What happens in Strength Grading

Strength grading evaluates and categorizes wood based on its mechanical properties, such as strength, stiffness, and density, assigning grades that indicate suitability for various applications. This process ensures the wood used in construction is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose in structures like buildings and bridges.

Largest Product Portfolio

We offer the most extensive product portfolio for strength grading with versatile solutions for different process demands. The solutions can be combined depending on production needs.

Maximizing yield

Maximizing yield

By analyzing the strength profile of the entire board, we can identify and remove defects that reduce its grade, enhancing the board's quality and optimizing yield.

Virtual Splitting

Double and triple virtual splitting is an approach first introduced by MiCROTEC who is still exclusively offering the triple virtual splitting solution.
Before sawing, the Goldeneye software uses a virtual board-splitting mechanism that divides a board lengthwise into two or three parts. These segmented data sets are then passed to the strength grading software, which treats each part as an independent board.

Increased Yield

The ability to virtually split the board allows defects to be isolated and removed with minimal material loss. The remaining sections retain higher quality, maximizing usable board length.

Increased Production Speed

Boards are physically cut only at the end of the production process. By virtually dividing each board into two or three segments during scanning, the system effectively processes two or three boards simultaneously, increasing throughput without compromising quality.
